Kerry Sharp – installed Google Chrome on her computer and changed admin login back to school default. On her student computers I added Chrome and updated Flash.

Teresa Montague – Chrome was already installed but I modified her dock removing all obsolete apps and set Chrome for the default browser set to open on login. She still needs a local account.

Lower Hall Lab – problem logging in to Success Maker reported on some machines. Connection issue with server. We talked about how we need to find a replacement for curricular goals of Success Maker as we cannot afford to update to their current version and our server is now 13 years old. We no longer have support for Success Maker. Showed Marisa how to use the power button for hard restart since Force Quit wasn’t doing the job.

Upper Hall Custodian – asked about the “change” button under your account icon, I explained how that was an option to choose a picture or other avatar.

Mary Johnson – help her after school with creating lesson plans on the web site.

Andrea Sewell – asked about the Apple Mail app, inquiring why she didn’t see it in the Dock anymore, today let her know that the internal servers have not been getting new mail since we moved our domain over to Google last May. Today I suggested that she keep Chrome open to see when there is new mail in the inbox. She also reported that her speakers didn’t sound right, that they sounded like they have been blown.

Middle School Lab – discussed with Tesa Madron that the computers now have Chrome installed.

Bobby Carnes – reported a problem with SmartBoard that when he used the pen it was also making selections. Researched this a little and found an article stating it was possible that two instances of Notebook could be running simutaneously. We tried a restart to see it that helped. A second article mentions that it could be making boxes because Smart Ink is not working.

Larry Latimer – gave the MacBook Pro I’ve prepared to Coach Latimer along with his account credentials printed on paper. I made sure he could login and check his email. I also showed him how to open Google Docs and create a document. He is currently set to print in the High School Writing Lab. He asked me about the Huddle program, which I know nothing about and I asked him to check with the other coaches. I propably need to install Microsoft Silverlight on his computer when more time is available.

Bobby Carnes – after moving his account to local, I had to help him set his display back to “mirror displays” and remind him to start putting valuable documents on Google Drive.

District – sent quotation for annual renewal of web content filter (Barracuda) and a PO to Mr. Gower for approval. This is very near expiration.

Larry Latimer – prepped a MacBook Pro for Coach Latimer and set up his Google account. I need to visit with him a bit to be sure he knows how to access the Google tools.

Kasey Patterson – reported a problem with her account. She was logged in a Guest and her dock was different, but since she was using Google Apps all her docs are saved.

Tesa Madron – reported that Google Chrome was not on the middle school lab computers. Apparently I didn’t install Chrome there this summer, but I installed it on all 25 machines after school today. There was also the irritation keychange prompts on the guest account, but I researched it again and still don’t know how to get those to go away.

Lorie Patterson – reported an overheating problem with her SmartBoard projector. I noted that it was very hot in her room and suggested we find a way to make the room cooler, either fix the AC, get a fan, or change the baffles in the registers so that her room gets more cool air. I did blow the dust out of the projector, but there wasn’t enough dust to account for the problem.

Stephanie Baldwin – reported that she needed an update to Microsoft SilverLight plugin in order to watch a movie in her class. Done.

  • Energy Saver settings in System Preferences
  • Desktop and Screen Saver setting for “Start after: “ time in minutes
  • Security & Privacy checkbox for “Require password #minutes after sleep or screen saver begins

Administration & Website – communicated with Karis Reavis, Kasey Kiker, and Ronda Garner about the workflow for Employee Leave Request online form

Sean Walker – found cable and adapter for connecting SmartBoard to computer. Alse sent bookmarks and pictures for Ethiopian presentation.

Erin Mitchell – reported problem with projector. There was no power reaching projector. Tested electrical outlet in ceiling, one was bad. Connected projector to other plugin.

Shelley McGehee – discussed computer that will not boot and that Dell recommends she may be better off replacing than repairing.

Andrea Sewell – reported that she needed her bookmarks from her old machine. I open Safari in her old MacBook Pro and exported the bookmarks. Then I installed Chrome and logged into her account and imported the Safari bookmarks.
