Classroom News

Welcome back to school! I am very excited about this school year and am happy to be teaching this amazing group of kids.  I am giddy with excitement for what this year has in store for us.

Here is a little bit about me.  I have 17 years teaching experience, with eight of those years teaching 1st grade, two years teaching 2nd grade, four years as a reading coach, two years as an instructional coach, and one year teaching middle school math.  My degree is in Elementary Education with a certification in Early Childhood. I have my Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist and an endorsement in Middle School Math.  I live in Ada with my husband Theron, our 10 year old son Gavin, and our dog Molly.  Gavin is in 5th grade at Homer.

Thank you, Huey, for the snacks you brought for the first day of school.  We really enjoyed them!

Please feel free to send a water bottle with your child (make sure it has a sealable lid so the water doesn’t spill out and water only please).  We have a water fountain in our room that the kids are welcome to use as well.

Please send athletic shoes for gym.  Our schedule is gym two days, art one day, gym two days, art one day, etc.

If you ever have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to email or text me at deborahcarr@konawa.k12.ok.us or 580-272-3549.  Thanks!

Summer Birthdays

We celebrated June and July birthdays on the first day of school.  Those celebrating included Aiden, Tim, Jayden, and Daniel.  We sang our own version of the Birthday song and they each got to pick an item from the Birthday Bucket to take home.  We hope you each had a fabulous birthday and we enjoyed celebrating you at school.
