The Kennedy Library of Konawa Board meets once a month to discuss issues concerning the library and its endowments.
Kennedy Library of Konawa Board of Directors:
To view agendas of the Library Board and The Board of Trustees, go to the school information index and select the appropriate agenda.
"Friends" are a very special group of individuals who feel the Kennedy Library of Konawa is a very special place. Their annual contributions go to support a number of activities and programs presented by the library throughout the year. In addition, they provide support for the purchases of additional library materials and books not otherwise funded.
With a contribution to "Friends" comes the knowledge that you are supporting the school and community that are special to you.
Endowments
Many of the activities and functions of the library are supported through generous gifts to the Foundation of the Kennedy Library.
The Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Library of Konawa, Inc. oversees a portolio of endowments from individuals to the library. Endowments are invested under the auspices of an investment committee and monitored on a regular basis.
The foundation maintains a General Endowment from which significant acquisitions and activties of the library are funded. Funds may be used for equipment, furnshings, Summer Reading Program, and other needs. Gifts are tax deductible.
Scholarships
The Kennedy Library Board of trustees oversees several "scholarship" endowments. Typically, these are established as a perpetual endowment whereby the principal amount of the endowment is invested with 10% of the income returned to the principal and 90% being awarded to students. The trustees also establish guidlines for the selection of recipients. Listed below are the various scholarship endowments administered by the Board of Trustees.
Genealogy
The Konawa Genealogy and Historical Society of Seminole County is housed in the newly remodled wing of the library. This active society works to preserve Seminole county's aging court records, many of which date to early statehood. With the assistance of the loyal volunteers, original records are copied, categorized, and documented.
In addition, the society assist individuals trying to locate and learn about their ancestors. Volunteers are avaiable most days and each Thursday evening. The research libary contains several volumes that highlight census information from various states. Census information is available on microfilm through the International Genealogical Index. New materials are gathered several times a year as workers buy and exchange books and other items at workshops.
Interested patrons are always welcome in the research facility.

Education:

| When the present school buildings were constructed during the 1970's, Konawa Public School housed it's elementary library in what has since become the CCC computer lab and the jr/sr high library in what is currently the vocational business lab. Thanks to several generous benefactors and motivators, it became possible to build a new library which could serve both the school and the community. Having a public library on a school campus provides an opportunity to serve the unique needs of both. |

The Kennedy Library was built in 1991. The architect for the project was Locke Wright and Associates. The construction supervisor was Lance Guinn. The building committee was Superintendent Charles McFarland, Member Monte Surber, Member Richard Sharber, Member Shirley Berry, and Chairman Arthur Kennedy. The Board members at the time of construction was president Jerry Townley, vice president Tim Lowry, clerk Carol McCraw, member Jim Kelley, and member David Gentry. The mayors of Konawa during this time were Gary Cook (1990) and Ed Moore (1991). |
| A significant addition to the facility occurred in 1999 when the children's library and the Dougan Conference Center were added. This project allowed for the remodeling of existing space to provide an archive room, the genealogy room, and a small kitchen. The resulting library building is a tremendous assest, both to the school and the community. |
