Regional History Books

Konawa is fortunate to have one of the best documented histories of any small town in Oklahoma. Chester and Arthur Kennedy, benefactors of the Kennedy Memorial Library, have both written history books of Konawa. If you would like to have more information on ordering Dr. Kennedy's books, contact the Konawa Genealogy Society or the Kennedy Library of Konawa. To a great degree, this ranking was a result of the developement of the Greater Seminole Area, especially the area within the vicinity of the town of Seminole. This book tells the story of the search for oil, and the influence it had on thousands of individuals. The main purpose of this book is to tell about the boom period from 1923 to 1940-how the sparsely settled area went from poor, to wealthy, to moderate life styles.
